Meet Your Provider
Anna Lindner (she/her)APRN-CNP, PMHNP-BCPsychiatric-Mental Health Nurse PractitionerHi, I'm Anna.I am a queer transgender woman and a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care for adults across Ohio through secure telehealth.I completed my Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner education at Ohio University, whose nursing program has a long-standing reputation for excellence. Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I worked as a psychiatric registered nurse, an experience that continues to shape how I approach patient care today. My goal is to create a space where people feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care.My practice welcomes adults from all backgrounds and life experiences, with a particular commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and others who have felt misunderstood or underserved in healthcare.Because I have not yet legally changed my name, you may still see my legal name, Paul Lindner, on insurance claims, prescriptions, billing statements, or other official medical documents.
Why Good Enough?
People sometimes ask why I chose the name Good Enough PMHNP.For much of my life, I believed that if something wasn't perfect, it wasn't good enough.Eventually, I realized that perfection isn't what helps people. What matters is showing up thoughtfully, listening carefully, continuing to learn, and doing our very best for the people who trust us with their care.Later, I learned about pediatrician and psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott, who described the idea of the "good enough" parent: someone who doesn't need to be perfect to provide the consistency, support, and care a child needs to grow. That idea resonated deeply with me because I believe mental health care works much the same way.My goal isn't to be a perfect provider. It's to be a thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely present one.Doing our best is good enough. That's the philosophy behind this practice, and it's the standard I hold myself to every day.
What This Means for Your Care
My approach is strongly influenced by the work of psychologist Carl Rogers, one of the founders of humanistic psychology. Rogers identified genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard as essential qualities of a meaningful therapeutic relationship.I strive to bring those qualities into every interaction while combining them with careful assessment and evidence-based psychiatric care. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to bring careful listening, clinical expertise, and evidence-based recommendations so we can understand what is happening and decide together what comes next.If I recommend something, I'll explain why. If I ask a question, you're always welcome to ask why I'm asking it. I believe understanding your care is an important part of receiving good care.Let's understand what's happening before deciding what comes next.
What to Expect
Finding the right psychiatric provider is an important decision. That's why I offer a free 15-30 minute consultation before your first appointment. It's a chance for us to meet, talk about what brings you in, answer your questions, and decide whether we feel like a good fit to work together. There is no pressure or obligation to continue. If we decide to move forward, you'll complete secure online intake paperwork before your evaluation. It takes a little time, but it allows me to learn about your history beforehand so we can spend more of our appointment understanding you instead of filling out forms. To make the most of your appointment, intake paperwork needs to be completed before your evaluation. If it isn't finished in time, we'll simply reschedule your appointment so we have the information we need to begin thoughtfully.During your evaluation, I'll start by asking what has been going on and what brought you to seek care. From there, I'll ask questions about your symptoms, mental health history, medical history, family history, and other parts of your life that may help us understand the bigger picture.I ask a lot of questions, but I don't believe in asking deeply personal questions just because they're on a checklist. I try to understand what is relevant to your care while respecting your privacy. If there's something you don't want to discuss, just let me know. You're always in control of the conversation. And if you're ever wondering why I'm asking a particular question, I encourage you to ask. I believe understanding your care is an important part of receiving good care.At the end of the evaluation, we'll discuss my assessment and develop a treatment plan together.Sometimes medication is part of that plan.Sometimes it isn't.If I believe another resource or another clinician would better meet your needs, I'll tell you that too. My goal is to help you receive the care that's right for you, whether that's with me or someone else.If we decide to work together, follow-up visits are usually every 2-4 weeks while we're making medication adjustments. Once things are stable, appointments are often every 1-3 months, depending on your needs and preferences.AI-Assisted DocumentationTo help me spend more time focused on you instead of typing, I use a secure AI-assisted documentation tool during appointments. The AI helps create draft clinical notes and after-visit summaries, but I review, edit, and approve everything that becomes part of your medical record. Your information is not used to train AI models, and recordings are not retained after processing according to the service's data handling policies. If you have questions about how AI-assisted documentation works, I'm always happy to discuss it.
How I Can Help
I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, collaborative medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for adults throughout Ohio.I commonly work with people experiencing:• Depression and other mood disorders• Anxiety, panic, and excessive worry• ADHD (including evaluation and non-stimulant treatment)• Trauma and trauma-related concerns• Substance use concerns and recovery support• Gender dysphoria and LGBTQ+ mental health• Stress, life transitions, and relationship concernsNot sure whether I'd be the right fit? That's exactly what the free consultation is for.Supportive PsychotherapyMedication is only one part of treatment. When it's appropriate and aligns with your goals, I also incorporate supportive psychotherapy into medication management visits. This often includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), elements of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and practical skills you can continue using between appointments. If more intensive or specialized psychotherapy would better meet your needs, I'm happy to discuss that with you and help coordinate your care.A Note About ADHD TreatmentBecause Ohio law limits what I can prescribe as a telehealth-only nurse practitioner practice, I do not prescribe Schedule II stimulant medications such as Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, or Ritalin. If stimulant medication appears to be the best treatment for you, I'll explain why, answer your questions, and help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about what comes next.
